New collaboration with Harvey Nichols and top fashion brands Marni, MM6, Red Valentino and more
Lucie Kaas and Harvey Nichols have recently collaborated in order to celebrate the British high-end department store’s opening in Hong Kong. Initiated by Harvey Nichols, Lucie Kaas has produced a limited edition of its Sketch.inc collection featuring international fashion designers.
Harvey Nichols reached out to Lucie Kaas in the beginning of 2019 as they were interested in a customized, limited edition of the hand painted, Japanese kokeshi dolls from Lucie Kaas’ popular Sketch.inc collection. The exclusive, British department store approached several fashion designers such as Marni, Mira Mikati, RED Valentino, MM6, Paul Smith and many others all keen to design a kokeshi with the identity of their brand. The dolls were created for a store opening in Hong Kong in September and used as presents for VIP clients and celebrity guests.
The entire Lucie Kaas x Harvey Nichols collection features designs from Marni, Mira Mikati, MM6, Paul Smith, Monse, SJYP, RED Valentino, Wooyoungmi, Solid Homme, and Hyke (see slideshow). The fashion designers themselves participated in the creation and design process of their kokeshi dolls. Marni’s Creative Director, Fransesco Risso, chose to design the Marni doll inspired by his own outfit at the Marni Fall/Winter 19 show in Milan and the Lebanese-French designer, Mira Mikati, wanted her doll to wear an outfit with her iconic sun doodle print.
