Orçum Erdem grew up in Istanbul and later relocated to Helsinki, where he completed his master’s degree in Contemporary Design at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. He specializes in hot glass processing, and initially found his interest in hot glass processing due to the fast pace of glass since Orçum appreciates working fast in order to capture the moment and freshness. Orçum’s general inspiration comes from cartoons, pop-art, and memories from dwelling through his hometown, Istanbul, which was packed with advertisements. The aesthetic of consumerism has left deep impressions, which Orçum notes are resurfacing now in adulthood.
